Founded in 1995, TEGV (The Educational Volunteers Foundation of Türkiye) is an NGO that supports the state’s education system by providing non-formal education. This means making textbooks and other publications available; offering education spaces across Türkiye; and hosting concerts and events for children.
Primarily, TEGV’s 2023 report makes use of photo editing and colour to convey its message. The cover, with its striking use of colour figures against a black and white background is carried through on all major portraits and key images in the report. It’s a simple and effective visual reminder that children are the focus of TEGV’s work.
The square-format report uses QR codes to supplement its information, so as not to pack too much into its pages. It uses a 3-column page grid and a bright, child-like colour palette throughout. The palette is made use of for important text as well as charts, graphs, background fills, and in for icons.
These icons—published by the United Nations as the ‘17 Sustainable Development Goals’—may in fact have inspired the palette for the report. If so, it’s a great way to embed the development goals into the fabric of the report. And amid the brightly coloured chaos of kids, their paintings, and their activities, this report tells an important, heartening story.
