The European Media and Information Fund (EMIF) allocates funding to organisations in Europe that fight disinformation. They promote media literacy and support researchers, fact-checkers, and not-for-profit organisations.
There are some commonalities in their annual reports of 2022, 2023 and 2024. Partly, this is due EMIF retaining the same design agency for all three reports—the British firm, Studio Cronica, whose design sensibilities are applied consistently to these reports.
Studio Cronica maintains a link between the three reports through its use of fluorescent blue and green. These colours appear variously as fill colours, in maps, and in charts and graphs, helping to create a unified identity.
Page grids remain the same in the three reports, and feature a fair use of negative space, whose effect is perhaps reduced by the overuse of fine dividing lines to mark out columns.
The reports also rely on three typefaces (two serifs and a heavy, narrow sans serif) to unify the reports. The elegant display serif is well chosen for its dramatic letterforms in the italic, and makes the reports visually memorable and also tying them together and reinforcing the EMIF’s brand.
